The Four Pillars
Scholarship
"Scholarship can be embodied and reached in the NHS body by making school a priority. Although there may not be a set grade point average designated as “good”, it is up to you to give your full effort to school work. This includes finishing homework with thought, studying to do well on testing, and participating in class."
Service
"Service can be embodied and reached in the NHS body by volunteering in minimally one service opportunity in or outside of school. Volunteering of your time for the betterment of others must be a characteristic that one is willing to do in order to fulfill the other pillars of NHS. Some service opportunities are mandatory as a NHS member; however they are very minimal. Members are encouraged to volunteer more at countless other organizations that exist in and out of Ignatius."
Character
"Character can be embodied and reached in the NHS body by simply following the existing rules at Ignatius on top of showing humility to others. In a most simplified manner as possible, members must follow the Golden Rule: treat others as you would want to be treated. Respect must be shown to all types of, but not limited to, genders, races, cultures, ages, and disabilities. The character of NHS members must follow what it means to be a 'Man for Others.'"
Leadership
"Leadership can be embodied and reached in the NHS body by taking on extra responsibility. Whether it is in or out of school, attempt to begin or lead an existing organization. This organization may be of any size; however, the organization should help other individuals in some way beginning with your leadership."
